Chapter 2

“Could you just like, I don't know, NOT sound so unenthused to be working in this movie? It's rather offensive to me, and I think you might like to keep you role in this film!” I snapped at Jarred Montgomery, the lead male role in my new movie “After Sunset” about the escapades of a group of college kids when it gets dark. It was a weird, twisted movie, again, that followed different people in their different styles.

“Sorry Jackie.” He said with a grunt and turned back to the scene. I really did not like that kid. Not one bit.

“Don't let him get to you Jackie, he thinks he's invincible because he's a young actor. They're all like that at that age.” A voice said from behind me. I turned around and saw a handsome guy with long black hair.

“Not to be rude, but um, who exactly are you?” I asked, curious as to the stranger on my set.

“I'm Julia's brother.” He stated, motioning towards Julia Murcia, another actress who played the weird lesbian.

“Oh. She's so talented. It's a wonder that the big execs haven't picked up on her yet. She's got such character.” I said, watching her talk with someone about her lines.

“Yeah. She's always been the actress in the family. Always had to be in the spotlight. She's a great kid.” That great kid was 19.

“So um….” I realized he hadn't given me a name.

“Spencer.”

“Spencer, what do you do?” I asked, curious as to what brought him down here to MY set.

“I'm a musician. I was working with my label down the street, Indigo Productions, and when I was done, I wanted to come see my little sister in all her acting glory.” He said with a smile. I returned his smile and looked down at my notes. I yelled at command to those on the set. Spencer jumped slightly at my loud voice.

“Sorry Spencer. Indigo records eh? Is that the one Isaac Hanson owns?” I asked. He nodded. “Nice.”

“Yeah. Except when he heard I was on my way here, he was about to drop everything and come with me. He's apparently a big fan of yours or something.”

“So I've heard. Or actually, read.” I said with a smirk. Spencer chuckled. He had a deep, throaty voice. I handed him a script. I pointed to the part of Darren, a goth Drama major. “Spencer, read this for me.”

“What?”

“Just humor me okay? Read this part.”  He looked at me with suspicion. “Just read it Spencer! I promise nothing bad will happen. Nothing will fall out of the sky, the ground won't open up and swallow you, JUST READ!” I pushed, with a laugh. He looked down at the script.  He read the little monologue. I was shocked. Spencer fit the part perfect. He was absolutely right for that role. I looked over to the set where Jarred was hassling some assistant. “Jarred!” He jerked his head to look at me.

“What?!” He snapped.

“You're fired. Get off my set!” He opened his mouth, and closed it, and opened it, and closed it again, no words coming out. He stalked away, and I turned to Spencer. “Spencer, how would you like to be the new Darren?” I asked.

“Oh god. I, um, I don't know. I'm kinda in the studio right now and everything so-”

“When I'm done here today, around 5:30, come find me. We'll go back to the studio and discuss this with whomever is in charge.”

“Isaac.”

“Pardon?”

“Isaac Hanson is in charge of my recording.” He stated. A smirk crept onto my face.

“Even better.” I said with a tint of mischief. He nodded, and walked away, back to the studio I presumed. The boy was gorgeous. Tall, nice body, beautiful, dark hair, this dark look about him. Every quality he had just screamed out for this role, like he was meant to play it. Okay, so I'm getting a little ahead of myself. Sue me.  I had just found the star of my movie, on accident! I rejoiced in my newfound glory, but then realized I had to set up an entire new scene since I had fired Jarred, and couldn't work on what he WAS doing. Shit! I was going to have to start from scratch with this kid! Damnit!
